Showered

Yesterday some folks at C's work threw a shower for us. C was slightly uncomfortable with the whole thing...since most of them report to him and he felt like he was asking them to give gifts. But I reassured him that this is what people do. They throw showers. Because they want to give gifts. Not everyone in the office gave a gift, but many did and it was very nice. N has several new toys and we got some more things for the nursery. And she now has more balloons. The balloon that came with my brother and SIL's fruit bouquet has finally died just in time to get replaced by five more. We have two stars, two round "baby" balloons, and a big duck. N thinks this is all just fabulous even though I have only tied two of them low enough for her to get to this morning.

N had her first cake at the shower. She was, predictably, really happy with the cake. I give her teething biscuits, but haven't given her any cookies or anything like that, so the cake was much sweeter than anything she has had. I think it is safe to say she never got cake in the baby home.

And here she is feeding herself bananas. She lets me feed her occasionally, especially if she helps hold the spoon, but she is mostly self-feeding now. She's eating bananas, baked apples, canned and baked pears, baked butternut squash (she loves the squash), chicken vienna sausages, and various crackers and puffs. She loves yogurt and likes cottage cheese, which I am pretty sure they gave her at the baby home. She turned down zucchini last night...not sweet enough, I don't suppose, LOL! She has eaten boiled baby carrots and I need to fix her some peas and green beans. He molars are mostly in...she still needs to add some of the teeth on the sides...in front of her molars. She is usually a relaly good eater.
Last night I made peanut butter cup cookies and apple/cranberry/walnut bread for C to take to work along with a thank you note. N fell asleep on my back in the Ergo a little before 9 pm and only woke a few times in the night for reassurance. We slept until 8.

I think it's really cool that the people at C's work did that. The gifts are nice but it's more about them showing their support for your new family.

That is great they did that - i agree with Heidi, sending support to the new family!

And, look at that cutie eating - love hearing how she is progressing. Self-feeding is so much fun! LOL!!

What a nice entry to read. She seems so happy and I'm glad you got a bit better rest. It will come very soon I think.

I love the pic of her eating her bananas!

I love coming to visit and seeing updates and all the wonderful photos! :)
