Remember this? The sleeves for Corey's sweater? Well, they still look like this. Why?Because I am questioning the yarn and the pattern. The yarn because I think the drape is going to be wrong and the pattern because I just don't want to do anything with a 22 row repeat and such an intricate pattern. And quite frankly, I'm not crazy about how the pattern is written. So much for Sirdar patterns.

I've decided that I really do need a more twisted, more structured yarn if I am going to do any cables. I want them to be defined. This is nice yarn, it just doesn't seem to be the right yarn for an aran pattern. And let's face it, I do 99% of my knitting at night when I am relaxing in front of the TV. I don't want a high-maintenance brain-busting gotta-use-my-brain-the-whole-time pattern. The sleeves have been easy enough, if boring. A 2x2 moss stitch.
So I am thinking of doing this pattern from Knitpicks that I found in their catalog recently. Not only is it written to be knit in the round, eliminating the need for lots of seaming, but the cabling is a bit simpler, and it is also sized for worsted weight yarn instead of the lighter DK weight. I know, small photo. But once I order the pattern, I'll scan it in larger. You can see the pattern better on the blue sweater, since it is lighter. I'm about to place a KnitPicks order because mom gave me $$ for my birthday to get the ball winder and swift I've been wanting. Hooray! (I had a very nice birthday yesterday, btw.)I am trying to decide on a color. I am leaning hard towards this great green color....
Corey's eyes are grey-green, depending on what he is wearing, and I love him in soft greens. But I am wondering if it is too "bright" and if I should go with the olive green instead.
Corey doesn't usually do "bright" for the office. But this isn't orange or lime green or cherry red, so I think the lighter green would be nice. This is Andean Twist from KnitPicks, and I had a sample card around here somewhere, but there is no telling where it is now...my studio is a disaster. I may just order another sample card for now and order the yarn in a bit after I see the colors first-hand and talk them over with Corey.

I think he is trying to prove something to me, LOL! I suppose he will wear a sweater with wool in it if I knit it. Of course, the button down shirt I had ironed is apparently his least favorite shirt. I wish he'd tell me these things before I iron and lay something out for him.
Speaking of which, I just realized I have nothing ready for him to wear tomorrow, except more sweaters. Hmmph. I don't feel like ironing. Guess tomorrow will be another sweater day. It should be cold enough...in the 60's.
