I've always been partial to wings, especially turkey ones

I just finished setting up the new printer a few minutes ago, and have been trying it out by printing some patterns off knitty.com. I've been needing to print since we moved in, so I'm pretty happy that I finally got it set up, even if I haven't mastered the wireless printing thing yet.

While at knitty printing off some mighty fine sock patterns and some fingerless gloves for CIC (http://www.childrenincommon.org/), I came across this: http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTallete.html.

Cuz, you know, we all need a set of knitted wings.

This designer lives in Dallas and upon checking out the link to her blog, I see that she has actually designed some fairly cute things. But the wings? There really is no explaining it. However, I like to knit socks, so if knitting wings makes her heart happy, then more power to her.

Progress on The Sweater is slow. I've been knitting on the sleeves for a couple of hours just about every night for a week or so, and I think I maybe have about 12 inches now. They need to be 19 or so....not sure exactly since they aren't supposed to go to top of shoulder. And the sleeves are no-brainer knitting. A moss stitch. Alternating rows of K1, P1, K1, P1, K1, P1...it actually goes pretty quickly in the grand scheme of things. If it is taking me this long to do the sleeves, I don't want to think about how long the body will take, with all that cabling.

And I haven't started my new Six Sox sock pattern yet. I have two yarn orders due soon and one of them contains some Koigu yarn I am thinking of using. And some Mountain Colors Bearfoot and some Cherry Tree Hill...in the knit-along group, we post photos of our socks in progress and then finished. I like how this particular pattern stitch looks in solids, but I am in love with one hand-painted yarn in particular. If the Koigu doesn't make this pattern pop in the first couple of inches, I may try the Cherry Tree Hill and if that doesn't work, I'll order the Hagebutte or whatever it is called and do some more waiting.

The unpacking is going slow. Have I mentioned that I detest unpacking? I don't even like to unpack a suitcase after a trip, much less my whole house. But I am making slow progress. Saturday I went and bought my new set-up for my scrap desk and assembled all the new pieces. Still need to attach it all together and fill it all up. I need to use that as incentive for getting the rest of the house in order. In any case, I need to scrap soon because I think I am in two August swaps...gotta get on those.

I'd post photos of it here, but Blogger is being uncooperative, so those will wait for another time....
