Football season is here

at least for me, anyway.

We started the draft for my fantasy league. I'm in a league with a bunch of cousins and my oldest brother. I'm the only woman in the league, so I'm trying to represent my sex well and not do anything completely idiotic. Fortunately, I drafted third in the first round and it was kinda hard to screw that up. Got my second choice, LaDainian Tomlinson. Next time around I draft 8th and have some harder decisions to make. And it is a little early to be getting good research off of the net or in mags. I've been haunting the NFL channel.

I went to the July NIN meeting yesterday and it was great to see friends and hang out and be useful. I sewed a lot Friday. It's the first time I've really sat up and worked on anything off the sofa for any amount of time. Yesterday was a long day, but I wasn't too terribly tired. I didn't do any lifting or standing around at the meeting.

Today we went to go see Pirates 2 and 30 minutes into it, the whole theater lost power. In fact, the whole area lost power. So after 20 minutes of hanging out waiting for it to come back, we gave up and plan to try again. But Corey is about to go off to England for a week, so it will be a while before we get to another theater together. I might go see The Devil Wears Prada while he is gone. I know he'll go with me, but he isn't exactly dying to. ;)

I've gotten a lot done on the Jaywalker socks, aka My Mono Socks. I love the pattern. LOVE it. I'm using merino wool in these totally 70's colors and the pattern makes the stripes look kinda flamed. I'll take a photo soon to share. I've never done socks before that have to be handwashed, but this yarn is so soft I might be a convert to the idea.

I can't wait to see your Jaywalkers! I tried to start the patter a couple of weeks ago, but my ribbing got screwed up. I have never knitted socks using 4 needles before, and found that it's rather flimsy to start. So, I might start them with 3, and switch to 4 after I get them established. Anyway, can't wait to see 'em!
