Okay, the plumbing under the wet bar is now functional. I think. I'll test it again in the morning. Ran out of plumber's putty (I put it around the edge of the sink before setting it in) and used tub caulk to set the drain, so I hope that works. I'll let it set up well. Probably shouldn't have gotten that wet so fast. Probably should have used tub caulk around the edge of the sink and saved the plumber's putty for the drain. Live and learn.
In any case, couldn't replace the faucet. I could not for the life of me get the old faucet off the sink. Got all the pieces I could see loosened, but one piece was impenetrable as far as I could see. It must have gone on there somehow, but getting it off was a mystery. DH nixed the idea of just gettting a whole new sink. He just wants it functional at this point. The old faucet is okay...just not as pretty as the one I bought to put there. And I took that one out of the box months ago, so I can't replace it. Anyone want a new wet bar faucet? LOL! I saved the installation instructions and all the pieces, just not the box.
You'd think simply reinstalling the pipes under the sink wouldn't be a big deal, but I did replace the trap with a stainless one and maybe that is why everything was just a tad off. Cut down a pipe and it seemed to fit, but the trap to wall-drainage connection was tough. Leaked a lot on the tests. I think it is tight enough now, though. I'll test again in the morning.
I went ahead and caulked all around the underside of the drain. I know it's a terrible attitude, but as long as it is water tight and doesn't leak, I won't be the one replacing it in x number of years. I think it wouldn't be too hard to get the caulk off, either. I know I should use plumber's putty, so if the caulk doesn't set up for a tight seal I'll use the putty. I'll have to get some at Ace tomorrow anyway so that I can do the other faucet in the master bath (I replaced one last summer and never did the second one).
2am. Guess I should go to bed. I have a long list of things to tackle tomorrow!
