The Drowsy Chaperone

When we were out in Los Angeles last Thanksgiving, we went at the last minute to go see a musical called The Drowsy Chaperone. Friends and relatives at Thanksgiving dinner had highly recommended it, saying how hilarious it was. Corey pretty much hated it and was bored stiff. I thought it was pretty good, if very unusual. It's about a guy listening to a record of an old musical and how the actors and sets and songs "come to life" in his apartment. I like old musicals and such anyway, so maybe that is why I liked it more than Corey.

A few weeks ago, I saw on CNN where The Drowsy Chaperone is nominated for the Best Musical Tony and teased Corey about it. So far tonight, it has already won two Tony's... for script and, I think, musical score or something like that. Corey just called from work while I was watching the Drowsy Chaperone performance during the awards. (Too funny.) I guess the cast we saw in L. A. was the Broadway cast, because I recognized the folks on stage at the Tony's.

However, I won't be watching the end of this show to see who wins...I'm sure I'll see on CNN later. The Mavs are playing in a few minutes and will take priority over Broadway.

Hey, I just saw John Boy at the Tony's...I guess that's where he's been lately. And David Schwimmer (Ross from Friends). Guess he's been there as well.
