Wiped out

We walked in the front door last night at 11:30pm Dallas time, I was in bed by midnight, and slept straight through until 11am today. I was evidently exhausted.

The house is a mess. We went out for lunch and then C went to work and I went to the grocery store. I'm on my third load of laundry and the kitchen is approaching clean. There is mail all over the place to go through and yarn projects and partially opened food gifts sent from my brothers. I hate coming home to a dirty house. I usually clean well before a trip for that reason, but the day I was home between trips didn't afford much time for that and all we did was pile up stuff to be dealt with at a later date.

It was really good to sleep in my own bed, though. I have shoulder issues and the sofa bed at my FIL's house didn't do me any favors. I'm still recovering from a muscle spasm I got the second morning in L.A.

BTW, in L.A., SIL arranged for their neighbors who adopted from Russia four years ago to come over and we talked with them a bit. The system has changed some since they did it, and they were in a region we likely won't be in, but it was interesting to hear about the process they went through to integrate their daughter into their family.

And they are writers for Mad Men, one of my favorite shows. I resisted the temptation to ask them plot questions.....
