What time is it?

Seriously folks, my internal clock is so screwed up it'll be a miracle if I have any sort of normal hours here. We took a taxi to FIL's and as soon as we got in I ate a bagel and hit the sack for a couple of hours.

Last night I packed very, very late and then did some re-evaluation of Christmas/Hanukkah knitting. My Oregon brother was going to get a scarf...I bought the yarn this summer and had it all wound up and took it to Hawaii (see post below regarding insane over-optimism). But now I'm thinking I may give him a gift that I actually bought several years ago and haven't ever given him. Non-knitting related.

I did finish Oregon SIL's gift on the plane this morning. Sorry, no photos again because I am on FIL's computer.

I have a hard time sleeping before early flights. Not only is my mind racing with what I've packed, trying not to forget things (I don't always do lists...for Hawaii I did a list...for yesterday, I did not because I didn't even think about packing for L.A. until we were done with Hawaii). I also have a fear of oversleeping. One time I didn't do the two-alarm thing (alarm clock and cell phone) and I woke up at 4am or something after going to bed at 3 and reset the alarm for what I thought was 30 minutes more of sleep time and well, resetting the alarm at 4am is not a wise move. We woke up something like an hour before our flight took off and we do live 15 minutes to the gate, but we and most especially our luggage barely made that flight.

C went to bed at 2am...I followed at 2:30...and the alarm was set for 3:30 because we had to leave the house at 4:30 for a 6am flight (I obviously did not book this flight). At 3am, C was snoring soundly and I was not asleep, so I moved to the sofa and just barely got to dozing when the alarm went off. Since I hadn't really slept, I leapt up and showered and started packing the toiletries and I was actually somewhat okay, if short-tempered. Our flight was very full and we were very fortunate to both get upgraded to First Class and then the guy next to C volunteered to switch seats with me without us even asking, so the flight out here could have been a lot worse. With room to move and flight attendants feeding us pancakes and fruit and bringing us hot towels to wash our hands and orange juice and hot tea, I was able to relax and doze for a few minutes.

It is 2:30 pm now and I need to go get dressed and then wake up C, who just went down for a quick nap (lucky SOB sleeps easily on planes...he stayed awake after we got here).

And I know I am dating myself, but the title of this post now has me stuck on a song we did a dance to in drill team my junior year. Anyone my age will probably know exactly what I am talking about. Unfortunately, I still remember part of this dance, so that is going to make it even harder to shake off.
