Wiiif on the run

That's the song C sings when I'm moving fast.

I guess it helps to know that it's pronounced "whiff" and The Wif is what C usually calls me. Or The Ancient Wifus, which he started using in Greece. Or Aunt Wif when I am around the nieces and nephews.

Our flight was a bit late yesterday...we got into DFW at a little after noon yesterday after transfers in Honolulu and Houston. It was a long night...7.5 hours from Honolulu to Houston and since I don't sleep on planes very well, it was an especially long night. I got about 1 hour of sleep and then for 3-4 hours I was really out of it but not able to sleep because there was no comfort to be had. I didn't get much knitting done on that flight at all. Flying westward doesn't bother me much...it's like a really long day to me. Flying the red-eye eastward always sucks.

So I've only uploaded the photos from the little camera...most of them are on the Rebel, which is still packed. Thus I don't have many photos to share, but here are a few:

While twisting and turning and trying desperately not to think about how much my knees hurt in seat 28L, I didn't finish the knitting on one SIL's gift...so while the rest of that family's gifts are headed to Florida in Mom and Dad's trunk, hers will have to wait. I also need to do some sewing for that gift, and since I'm not taking the sewing machine to L.A., that will have to wait until we get back because The Wif is running out of time.

Oh, have I mentioned? We have a 6am flight to Los Angeles tomorrow.

I did finish the knitting for the L.A. SIL's gift, and I just spent waaaay too much time sewing a lining for it with pockets. I'm now not sure I even want to use the lining. I might. I will felt it first, I guess, and see how that goes. I'll have to take my felting pillowcase to L.A. and use my FIL's machine and hope like hell it dries quickly. There are a gazillion ends to weave in...truly. A gazillion. I counted. But I don't have to weave them in much since I am felting it. I'm going to use fishing line in the handles to keep them from stretching out too much. And it is freaking gorgeous and I want one for myself desperately. Here, see for yourself:

The pattern is Syncopation and it was easy and fast and addictive and I'm disappointed that I need to finish other stuff before I can start my own.

After we got home yesterday, I threw some stuff in a bag, drove to JoAnn's for fabric, drove to Bass Pro Shop, drove to Mom and Dad's, did Mom and Dad's Christmas wrapping for them, ate dinner, chatted a bit, then fell into bed at 8pm. I got up this morning and drove home, but on the way I stopped at the Woolie Ewe, Bass Pro again, and a quilt store. Then I came home and cut out the pattern for L.A. SIL's bag before I had to go get my hair colored, where I started knitting the gift for Oregon SIL. Didn't even let my stylist blow out my hair, because I wanted to make it to the post office before it closed, so then I went to the P.O. to see what package they had for me that they had left a notice on my door for, and it was my birth certificates. Yea! Then I ran to Ulta because I am at the very end of the Bare Essentials make-up I use and they were out of my color, so I bought another mineral make-up brand in desperation (I've used Bare Minerals for years). Then I came home and did some laundry and started sewing the lining for L.A SIL's bag.

Whew! C kept calling me to chat about this that and the other and I was all, "If you have something to say, say it, cuz I'm busy".

Now I need to go finish laundry and pack...and unpack because I haven't done that yet. I'm trying not to think about how early we will be getting up tomorrow and how tired I am right now....

"Freaking gorgeous" is not strong enough to adequately describe your SIL's bag. I love it! Hurry and make yours, so I can see it.
