The new year

We are not off to a stellar start around here although it started off so well.

The psychologist appointments went well...he talked to each of us alone for 45 minutes each and then together for 45 minutes. And then I even made it to Knit Night for a while. The psychologist should have his letter of recommendation ready this week, I hope.

We went to my parents' house for a few days...my mom's birthday is January 1, so we went out the night before and had a very nice visit. Ate well, played some games, went shopping with Mom...ate home-grown black-eyed peas. Things were looking up for the start of a new year.

We came home yesterday and we had received our fingerprint notice from CIS which means they are processing our I-600A and the birth certificates I sent in were the right kind. We can go get fingerprinted this week.

But by late afternoon, C was not feeling well. By evening, he was shivering in the big chair with a 102 degree temperature. I've been taking care of him, but he isn't hungry much and just generally feels like crap and has to work his way through this. We were supposed to go to a party tonight, but now that is off for us and I'm disinfecting everything in sight. I didn't get a flu shot this year, so I may be next. We have no idea who C got this from. Maybe from work. I just hope that Mom and Dad don't come down with anything. I know they get flu shots, but those all depend on the strain of the virus. They are driving to Oklahoma today for my aunt and uncle's 50th anniversay.

Robert got them a GPS system for Christmas and I don't know why I never thought of that for them before...I feel better knowing they have it. They drive a lot and Dad is always good with a map, but it can be a challenge to find the hotels in strange cities and now they can find a good walking place for Mom wherever they need to. Mom has to walk every couple of hours when travelling since she got a pulmonary embolism when I was in college. They know where half the WalMarts in the country are at, but the GPS system makes it really easy to find.

My first FO for the year was a hat for my dad...I need to download some photos later. And I'm still knitting on some stuff for my mom and I REALLY need to finish my Florida SIL's gift. I need to sew to finish it and my sewing table is a disaster....

But first I need to go stock up on some stuff at the store just in case I end up with what C has.
