A well-loved baby

and a well-dressed one, too!
Last night the Rockstars surprised me with a baby shower at Knit Night. It was very sweet of them and perfect timing! I didn't have my camera at the shower, and Melanie took photos for me, but she jetted off the Mexico this afternoon and getting me copies of the photos was not top on her list of things to do today! Ha! So I took a photo of everything today.

That last one was a joint gift from Tasha and Liz because they both wanted to give it, LOL! N has no shortage of loving aunties. Most of the clothes above are 12-24 month or so. Stuff for her to grow into. The little sleeper is the perfect size: 9 months. We got toys and toiletries and lullaby CD's. I need everything. Going from 0 to 60 in one week straight from nothing to an active toddler! I just got home from Target where I think I nailed down the last of everything I need to take for the trip from diapers to infant medications to shoes to snacks to cough drops (for me).

So today my mom came over and we did a mother-daughter shopping trip that has been a loooooong time coming. The only thing that could have made it better was having N with us. I didn't have hardly anything in 9 month sizes because I just found out last week that that is her size and we've been buying bigger sizes while we wait so we went on a spree today and I have to say that my baby will be a well-dressed baby. Grandmom has good taste. I need to narrow it down, now, to the outfits I will take on the trip. I need to take at least two oufits for each day and several for the trip home because I expect to go through more than one or two outfits on the 16 hour odyssey across the world.

Took two photos to get it all in. It is much colder in Moscow than it is here, so I will be dressing her in layers. At the baby home, they dress her in two-three layers for a 70 degree day. She is used to being bundled up!

Last month, before the adoption was final, I was at Macy's and popped into the children's dept. to find a one day sale. Half off the red tag sale prices. I didn't pay more than $5 for any of this stuff. It was insane. $32 and $28 outfits marked down to $4-$5. Most of this stuff below is all 12-24 month sizes. The good thing about Texas is that our winters are not that cold, so I've been able to buy sleeveless or short-sleeved outfits and if they fit her when it is cold, I can put a long-sleeve onsies and tights under it and it will be just fine for here. Or a cardi over the top. Or all of the above.

Needed two photos to get it all in.
And this doesn't even include the outfits we've purchased over the years since we first started our adoption journey to China. Those are all 12-18-24 months.
Now I just need to clean out her closet so that I can get all this in there. Daddy has a lot of stuff stored in that closet that needs to go in the attic. Daddy didn't want to move it all until the adoption was final. Daddy thought one week would be PLENTY of time to prepare the house for her. Daddy flew to Spain on business yesterday and isn't here to help....

so exciting. My first was a girl too and the girl clothing is addictive! You'll have her in a new outfit every day because they outgrow everything sooooo fast!
