Another traditional sign of springtime in North Texas: the blinding sheets of rain and hail storm. It's heading my way, just now reaching the outer edges of Fort Worth. I'm not worried about it....they aren't expecting large hail, just small pellets, and they aren't expecting tornadoes. Flash flooding shouldn't affect me here at home. I can't remember how old the roof is on this house, though, so it would maybe be nice to get enough hail damage to get a new roof. Maybe in the next few years we'll get lucky. That's the deal around here. You try to wait until a hail storm takes out your roof to get a new one that your insurance will pay for. When we lived in The Netherlands our roof here at our old house had to be replaced due to hail damage.
The cars are safely in the garage, as usual. I was a bit worried today at my NIN work meeting that the storms would head in while I was out and about in Corey's car. I drive it when he is out of town. I rarely watch the local news/weather. I'm more of a CNN/MSNBC watcher. So I didn't know until I was on the road that this mess was headed our way. But I made it home with plenty of time to spare and the cars are safely covered. We always keep both cars in the garage unless I have some sort of project going on it there. And one time I did have to move a dresser I was painting to get my car in before a storm like this. Since our cars are the 2nd and 3rd most expensive things we own, we keep them sheltered. The sun around here is brutal on paint and we get the threat of hail at least once a year. I don't know why folks keep their junk in their garage and their cars out in the elements.
I went to bed at 6am and got up at 10, so I am pretty tired. But I am going to stay awake until at least 9 tonight. Daddy is having a stent put into one of his carotids tomorrow morning, so I want to be at the hospital across town by 6am. This was scheduled for a couple of weeks ago and then they moved it. He will have the subclavian stent put in in another month or two.
I'm hoping to finish my Spring Fling March Socktopia socks tomorrow...Saturday at the latest...and meet my end of month deadline. Tomorrow will be a day of sitting around the hospital. Good knitting time.
Tornadoes near Oklahoma City. I have an aunt and uncle there. The tornadoes that blew through there with so much destruction several years ago came very close to their house. I hope these don't get close to them.
