I won my first playoff game! I lost in the first round of the playoffs last year, but this year I have LT, and right now teams that have LT are nearly invincible. My only worry is that once the Chargers secure the playoff berth THEY want, LT won't be playing so much, and I'll be screwed if I make it through the next round to the final game and he is resting up.
So next week we are off to Vegas! We haven't been in a few years. We were planning to go last summer as part of the Grand Canyon trip that got cancelled due to my mono. We will be meeting Corey's dad out there and going to the Blue Man Show, which we have never seen.
And last night we were trying to plan a trip to Belize, but then got all indecisive about where in Belize to go or even if Belize is really where we want to go. And we started talking about where we WANT to go. The Galapagos. We both really want to see the Galapagos. So tonight I'll be looking into that. It looks pretty major, though. We have airline miles to get us down there, but then you have to get out to the islands and the hotels on the islands are all these eco resorts. Then you have to book all these tours to see the islands and the Darwin Center....the hotels all seem to have these major packages, so we are still in the investigating stage on that.
Friday afternoon John called on his way up to Dallas to play a gig and Corey and I went down and saw him at The Granada. Apparently he subs in for several different bands and was playing for a band he doesn't usually play with. He'll be playing with them for a few weeks in January, though, so if you catch the Band of Heathens next month, wave to the drummer. :-) Corey and I really enjoyed the band. I had listened to some clips on the web beforehand, but Corey didn't know what to expect. He liked them. They've got a Southern rock vibe.
Maybe tomorrow I will download the photo I got Corey to take of John and I together.
Today I got up at 6:30 to go down to Parkland and stuff the Christmas bags we give away every year. 320 or so this year. Each one has a sleeper or gown, hat, booties or socks, a receiving blanket (all packaged together by us), a rattle mirror toy and pacifier that the hospital provides, a word book the hospital provides, and we were able to provide mostly handmade soft "lovey" toys to most of the bags. We also have a supply of toys not suitable for infants (like Beanie Babies) that Santa gives out to kids he sees as he does the NIN bag delivery.
We stopped by the newborn nursery to organize the bins and drop off a lot of quilts and everything we delivered two weeks ago is gone. We delivered 1,894 items two weeks ago! 206 quilts, 605 receiving blankets, 276 layette sets. Gone. They deliver so many needy babies in that hospital. The babies are mostly born to the working poor. Folks who are working but having trouble making ends meet. We'd love to be able to supply more than a week or two's worth of supplies. But with some 16,000 babies a year born there, it's daunting.
