Seems I don't need to send Rudy anything for his big 5-0 this year. Nick Saban, head coach of the Miami Dolphins, did it for me. I'm playing my brother in the first Fantasy Football game of the season. Rudy's Pittsburg tight-end got credit for a touchdown last night that was CLEARLY not a touchdown. When the guys in the press box looking at tape immediately state that he was clearly out of bounds, maybe the coaching staff....just one guy on the coaching staff...ought to be listening. And maybe Saban needs to do some two-a-day practicing of his red flag throw. Even I could throw it better than that, and I am The Girl (or The Sister).
Got home from our anniversary dinner last night just in time to witness the atrocity. We had a nice dinner at the Addison Cafe, one of our favorite anniversary haunts. Seems we only go there for anniversary dinners. It's a tiny little French restaurant. Seems they've upped their portion sizes, though, in a very non-French way. Americans tend to just eat one course and be done with it, and with American portion sizes you can certainly do that. The European standard is to eat several smaller courses. Our starters were nearly a full meal! And then my main course was huge. Huge. Duck ala orange...with quite a bit more duck than I needed. Corey's lamb chops were a slightly more normal French portion...lotta chop, little meat. But my duck was overkill. Corey ate some and I brought half of it home for lunch today. It was very good, though. I miss duck. We ate it often in Europe, but here you rarely see it except in Chinese restaurants.
Ten years. It hardly seems like it, but then I guess it does. I'm not one to wax philosophically in public about my marriage, but suffice to say ten years is a big milestone for us. Corey brought me roses, of course, and I gave him a watch to replace the one I gave him when we were engaged that he just lost last month. It was a peaceful day. I will say that Corey has never forgotten an anniversary, to his credit. :D
And now I am off to do all those things which need to get done on the last business day before our trip.
