She immediately wanted the scooter, but I told her she had to do it again and the next afternoon, she did. So off we went to Toys 'R' Us and she picked one out. She is very into the first Cars movie right now and when she saw the Mater scooter, that trumped the Lightening McQueen one and it was love at first site. The princesses didn't stand a chance.
C thought I jumped the gun on the scooter, but I wanted to reward her quickly and let's face it, "you need to do this seven more times" isn't really something a nearly three year old is really going to grasp. It's not like she poops four times a day. So it's been four days of very consistent pooping in the potty. Usually she goes off to the potty by herself and then calls to me when she is done. Last night when J was doing a little babysitting, she also pooped. I'm quite sure this isn't how he thought he would spend his summer vacation, but he seems to be okay with all the potty talk we have around here.
I think she has turned a corner. It's her idea, not mine, and she is very proud of her accomplishment. She is also very into her new scooter. She is also waking up dry in the mornings, but I don't trust it yet and she's going to be sleeping in pullups for a while. She wears panties around the house most days, but I do put her in pullups to leave the house because I'm not convinced that she is dependable with peeing and when she's busy playing, sometimes I have to pull her away and make her sit on the potty just to be sure.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel, folks! We started introducing the potty last October or so. I'm excited. C thinks she may relapse yet again, but I see a difference this time. This is her idea...her thing. I may still ask her occasionally if she needs to use the potty, but in general, she takes care of it herself and then calls me in to tell me the news and get me to help clean up. But holy crap, this potty training thing may be drawing to a close. We've been at it since last fall and it's not that I hate changing diapers so much, it's just that I know she's capable of it and it will also open up some opportunities to her because there are some things she can't do until she is potty trained. I know this is something we all learn to do, but I'm so proud of her and so excited about the person she is becoming!

That's awesome. It must be really exciting to see her making those decisions on her own.
The good thing about buying the scooter right away is that she can connect the action with the reward like you said and, now that she has it, if she DOES relapse, you can always put the scooter away until she get's back on track.
Keep up the good work!
My mom counseled me to wait until my kids were 3 y.o. and the weather was warm (less clothes to fool with and if there's an accident when you're out and about the kid won't freeze if you don't have extra clothes).
Looks like Miss N is right on target. I imagine she'll continue to do fine.
YAY! Miss N and mom.
