So in the midst of the incredibly low temps we are having here, I finished seaming up the wool jacket I knit for N in the fall. The pattern is Roo, and it wasn't a difficult knit, but somehow the armholes didn't match on the fronts and the back. I knit the fronts simultaneously, and it appears I made the mistake on the fronts, so at least they are both equally messed up. I managed to fit the arms into the too-small holes, but it is far from perfect. Looks okay, though.

It's a bit late in the season for a wool jacket/sweater around here, but it looks like she will be able to wear this next year as well, which was my intention. The sleeves need rolling up. N has very short arms to begin with and since this is big, I may be rolling them up next year, too.
The yarn is KnitPicks Wool of the Andes. Not machine washable, but for as little wear as this will get, I figure that's okay. The color is called Fairy Tale and it isn't as bright as the flash on my camera would have you believe. Sunlight is obviously in low supply right now and purples are always very difficult to photograph, but you get the gist. The flash is drowning out the cable work, as well. There are cables on the front, the back, and the hood.
Last week I sat down and suddenly became a crocheter. My left hand yarn hold worked. The stitches made sense. I don't know...it just all clicked in a way it hadn't before. I've been on a crochet bender ever since. So last night when it was evident that a trip to JoAnn's to find toggle closures for Roo wasn't an option, I whipped up these little crocheted frog closures. It was the only pattern for them I could find on Ravelry. They look pretty good, but I am not crazy about actually using them. The puffy button part is kind of difficult to fit through the loop to close, but once they are on, they don't seem to come undone easily, which was my concern. So they will work for now. I may end up putting in a zipper from the waist up because I would like for the front to close up tighter. I suppose I could add a button band as well, but the jacket is designed to close with toggles.
Now if it would just get to a temperature where I'll let her out of the house. It may be a few days. She has some thin little store-bought mittens she has worn once or twice, but I am about to crochet her some thicker ones for when it does reach the point where I want to take her out tomorrow or Friday.
