So we are on Day Five of our new nap-free lifestyle.
For the last month or two, N has been taking an afternoon nap, but only after playing for a couple of hours in her room. She'd fall asleep at about 3:00-3:30pm and then sleep until 5 or 6. We'd put her down for bed at 9 or so and then she'd play in her room or her bed until around 11:30. Sometimes midnight. It was nuts. So I finally came to grips with the fact that she is giving up naptime.
She gets a little tired in the afternoons, but she doesn't get fussy and is, generally, a regular little Energizer bunny. Tonight will be her first gymanstics lesson with no nap, but I am going to make sure she has quiet time so that she is rested. During said quiet time, I am going to get out the fabric and patterns I bought yesterday and dig a path in my craft room to the sewing machine.
On the upside of this, she has been in bed by 8 pm the last four nights and that has been nice. She sleeps through until 7:30 am and is as regular as a little alarm clock most mornings. I could get used to this.
I've been sitting on the back porch with her for the last hour, while she played in the back yard and now it is time to go get in a little "quiet time". The weather is gorgeous and we've spent most of the last several days outside here at home or at parks. She is definitely an outside girl. We haven't done quiet time the last two days, but generally she is pretty good about staying in her room and either playing with toys and/or singing to herself in bed. Maybe she'll fall asleep today. Or maybe not. It's 1:30 and I'll give her about an hour to see what happens.
