Sigh.

So I sat down just now to fill out the cover sheets for the apostilles we were going to have done tomorrow and I had to take a look at each set of employment letters because one set is for China and the other is for Russia. They have different required wording. Apostilles for China and Russia are also worded differently, so I have to tell the Sec. of State people which country which apostille is going to. The top copy of one of them slipped to the side and it was immediately obvious there was a problem.

When C handed me these, weeks ago, I looked at the two different versions, said they looked okay, and then set them aside. I did not, however, look at all four originals (2 for each country, although I really only need one for China).

One of them is not on letterhead. Oh, it's worded correctly. It's signed. It's notarized. It is on a plain sheet of white paper.

Against all hope I looked to see what country that one goes to. Could it be the Chinese one? Could I be that lucky? We don't need the Chinese one immediately. In fact, I am not even sure I need it apostilled, but since I've paid my cap, I figured I would do it just for good measure.

@#$@$%#%$#@#$%$@#%$@#$

It's the Russian one. We need two originals. On letterhead.

So we are not driving to Austin tomorrow.

And I will not have my yarn in time to start my Russian Adventure blanket/raider training on time. And I know that shouldn't upset me like it does, but it does. I really wanted to cast on for that blanket Monday when the game starts. As it is, I will likely cast on for another project for the game. I need to complete another smaller project each month. I also have plenty of other things otn, but the blanket calls to me. I'm mildly obsessed with it at this point. Knitters understand this, I am sure.

It's totally my fault and I know it and that just pisses me off more. C always asks me to double check his work on this paperchasing stuff and I didn't double check thoroughly enough on this.

We have time before we have to leave for Russia. I'm more upset about the timing of the yarn, which C thinks is utterly and completely ridiculous, but he is obviously not a Knitter. It will be at least Tuesday before we have a new letter...and it could be longer because C thinks the HR director that signed it before may be out of the country. I think any one at his company will suffice, down to the mail boy, as long as his title sounds official and the damn thing is on letterhead.

Sigh.

Well, rats about the yarn! I'm in limbo on the next project I want to start (the Hanami cherry blossom stole) because I need beads for the beaded cast-on. I'm not really sure what to do with myself in the meantime!

Huge cyber hugs. I'm not a knitter but I understand your disappointment about the yard. I also believe that your desire/need to start the blanket is tied in with your desire/need to bring your daughter home.

My SIL's brother and his wife adopted 2 nearly two year old boys from Russia about 5 years ago. The boys were not related; they weren't even from the same orphanage! I remember following their story until they brought the boys home.
