Recovering

I seem to be recovering well, but it's weird. The left side of my abdomen feels fine and has almost since the surgery. It's like nothing happened on the left side. The right side still has twinges of pain and feels like someone did some cutting in there. On the HysterSyster discussion boards, this one-sidedness does not seem uncommon, but it feels a little odd.

Last Thursday, Mom came over and took me out to run errands. Then Friday we did lunch and went to Dilliard's to hit the children's sales racks. Mom wanted to get some things for my niece and nephew and she also purchased a few items for my little one. A shirt and jacket in 2T sizes and a 12 month striped long-sleeve onesie that I couldn't resist that was priced down to $6. I hope he will be the right size to wear it when it is long-sleeve weather. At the very least, if it fits him when we bring him home, it will be long-sleeve weather in Russia, if not here.

Friday night, C and I went to a neighborhood dinner party and we didn't stay the whole time, but it was nice to get out of the house again. I was pretty tired by the end of the night. Saturday I took it easy and we stayed in all weekend. Sunday I cleaned the master bath and I didn't do anything major, but I was feeling a bit more pain afterwards than I have in a while, so I decided to take it really easy until my doctor appointment tomorrow.

Mom is coming to take me to my appointment, at which point I hope to get clearance to drive myself. I've been off the major pain meds for more than a week except that I took one Sunday afternoon. If I'm healed enough, I should be able to drive myself somewhere, at least.

Tonight C is taking me to Knit Night. Last week was cancelled due to an ice storm that came through, so I am looking forward to getting out and seeing my friends. I'll probably also go to NIN on Thursday and maybe Saturday. Life getting back to normal, although I am still going to be on lifting restrictions for a while.

I've been knitting socks, some fingerless mitts, a finished a moebius scarf for my mom, and I'm still working on my kimono jacket. I've been sort of all over the place, knitting-wise. Bulky yarn, fingering weight, worsted. I've fought through a massive case of starteritis. I'm moving along pretty well on the kimono and I'll work on it tonight. I am never project monogamous, but I have been trying to work on the kimono at Knit Night in a sort of pseudo-monogamy. I forgot to take photos of the moebius scarf before I gave it to Mom, but I'll post photos sometime when I get them.

No news on the adoptions. At this point we just wait. Hopefully we will get a Russian referral in the next month or so!

Here's hoping with you! The waiting is the hardest part and will continue to be so. Post word when you get driving clearance. F is sick with a FEVER for the 1st time ever so life is in limbo at my house for now...
