So two Saturdays ago, we went and got fingerprinted for our second I-171-H Permission to Adopt a Foreign Born Orphan. Hopefully we will get that piece of paper soon. And now we need to start the process of extending our first I-171-H. The one for China. Which will involve redoing the FBI fingerprints, an updated homestudy, and possibly the updating of several pieces of paper we acquired almost two years ago.
The China I-171-H expires in May. We get one free extension. They are good for 18months, I think. After this on expires, if we are still waiting, we will need to pay another $800 or so for another one. This long China wait is unprecedented. I hope that if there are some of us waiting more than 3 years, that the Dept. of Homeland Security will take pity on us and give us more free extensions, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
