So, I was sick. For about three days I was pretty miserable. We stayed in all last weekend, C brought movies home from work Friday, and being the good man he is, he even brought "chick flicks" for me. The Nanny Diaries and Waitress. I must say, the Nanny Diaries wasn't as bad as the reviewers would have me believe...but it could never measure up to the book, which was hilarious and sad at the same time.
After about three days I was better but not totally there. A day or so ago, though, the head cold was gone and it never moved down into my chest, which is excellent.
There's been a whole lotta knitting going on here. I got a mild case of starteritis last weekend accompanied by a case of finishitis...so I decided to start small projects I knew I could finish fast.

Thus, I looked in my knitting bag, saw the
Noro Kureyon (color 172) I bought a month or two ago, and decided to cast on the
Maine Morning Mitts from my most recent book purchase...
The Book of Yarn. These went very fast...I did them in one evening and part of the next day. I wasn't so sure about the Noro when I first bought it, but wanted to try it. I've read lots of opinions on it, and it is pretty much a "love it or hate it" yarn...folks either really love it or really don't. I've decided I don't LOVE it, but I do appreciate it and may use it again. I didn't run into nearly as much straw in the yarn as I expected per the reviews I've read. And it did soften up with a wool soak. It is the first single ply yarn I've used and the first thick and thin type yarn as well. I had to butcher the second skein to make the second mitt match, and even then I was holding my breath because the color changes are so gradual that I wasn't sure I had started at exactly the same point in the second skein. I did like the subtle color changes and long repeats, though.

Then Saturday night after I cast off on the mitts, I decided to tackle
Quant. My first entrelac.
Entrelac, my friends, is addictive. I quickly worked about 4 inches Sat. night before deciding I needed to go down a needle size, so I ripped it out and started over and that didn't even bother me, it is so addictive. I still have a bit of one skein left, but the mitts and Quant pretty much used up two skeins of Noro Kureyon. Nice. I have washed and laid this to dry, but didn't really block it...I think it may benefit from mild blocking.
I have lots more knitting to share, but this is all for now. I did attempt to take photos of the moebius today...with the timer on my camera...I will not be posting those scary photos and will try again tomorrow.

I've been meaning to try entrelac - that looks like a great learning project...might have to give it a go at some time.
