Random

It's been a while since I posted and I'm incredibly behind, so I am going to throw some stuff up here and see what sticks.

In April we drove down to Slidell, just outside of New Orleans, for a family wedding. N still fit into the dress she wore to her cousin's Bat Mitzvah last year, so she wore it again and decided to try on her first pair of heels.

Another month and she might not have fit into the dress. She's hit another little growth spurt. She hasn't gained weight, just grew in height a bit and now is solidly in 3T.

I've started doing a little bit of "school" at home with N. We aren't planning to send her to preschool for maybe another year, so we figured I could do some stuff with her at home. She does gymnastics, art, and music every week plus Mom's Club activities and pretty soon I need to sign her up for swimming. We plan to do a two-hour a week school skills class once a week after she turns three.
Here she is getting ready to ride the tiger at the New Orleans zoo. She loves carousels. She loves spinning. I can do a carousel with her, but that is kind of pushing it for me in the motion sickness department. She absolutely loves spinning around on the tire swing at the park and exhibits no signs of any motion sickness at all, which I think is great. It's a pain to suffer from.
I'm knitting a sock and it was at about 1/2" past this point (turning the heel) that I came to grips with the fact that I was getting 9 stitches per inch and 72 stitches around wasn't going to cut it, so I frogged the whole thing and started over with 81 stitches. This is Socks That Rock lightweight and it is a more mellow orange in natural lighting.
Our 19 year old nephew, J, is staying with us for several weeks while he works at a summer internship nearby. He goes to Ole Miss and has lived in Florida since he was 4, so it is nice to have him here and get to see him every day. He is very good with N and she thinks he hung the moon. I think she is going to be pretty upset when it is time for him to go.
C is a big Mavs fan. He had partial season tickets when we met and he has since dropped them, but he still likes to go to games. He went to three or four of the playoff games with guys from work, but when he broke down and scored two seats to the Finals, he wanted to go with me. Since he did this the morning of the game, the only reason I was able to go was because J agreed to babysit. We went to Game 4, which the Mavs won. It was loud, and fun. I'm so glad the Mavs won the championship. So many of those guys have worked a long time and waited a long time for it.

And here is N with my parents. She absolutely adores them and asks to see them all the time. She is a very lucky girl to have grandparents who love her so much.
