N didn't totally understand it all...she'd never really eaten candy, so the fact that she was getting some didn't excite her in the same way it will a year from now. But she liked knocking and occasionally would say "trick or treat" and usually said "thank you" with prompting. She doesn't quite understand the concept of taking just one piece. I kinda wish more folks would just parcel out a piece, especially to the little ones like N. When presented with an entire bowl of candy from which to choose, she would just reach out and grab a handful and it took a bit for her to understand that you don't just do that over and over at the same house, LOL!
N was pretty into some of the other kids, especially this little one who lives nearby. She was one of three snow whites trick or treating together. I rather crudely blurred her face, but even with that you can see how similar she looks to N. I'm sure N would make a very pretty Snow White, but after this year it is up to her, so we'll see where she goes with the costumes.

She was very good although she did throw one tantrum when the owners answered the door before she got to knock. So after they gave her candy they told her to knock when they closed the door. She happily knocked and then turned around and left. Everybody thought she was adorable, which she was. It's always fun to see the little ones out and about, especially for their first real Halloween.

Her Daddy went to the door with her most of the time, although I went a few times. I thought I was video taping her first door, but it turns out it wasn't recording, so I got her second door. I didn't take too many photos, though. Wanted to enjoy it myself rather than just photograph it!
This is probably our last calm Halloween. She did eat some candy after we got home and before bed she threw a tantrum because I wouldn't give her more "pumpkin". I have a feeling next year will be our first truly candy-obsessed Halloween. This time around, she didn't know what to expect and I'm sure this is the last Halloween she won't pick her own costume. This was one I put together using some ladybug wings and antennae my mom gave us years ago when we were planning to decorate the nursery with ladybugs, along with the tutu from her two year photos. I picked up the onesie and tights last week and the shoes...those are her "shiny shoes" and she is obsessed with them. Wants to wear them all the time. Shows them to people in stores. It's her second pair of them...I got new ones when she outgrew the last ones because they are such favorites and because they go with so much of what she has. I'm also a fan of carrying the traditional plastic pumpkin.
So cute.
The first candy she went for was the orange Tootsie Pop (one of my favorites). I shared some Sweet Tarts with her (another favorite of mine), and then we hit the hard stuff, enjoying her first chocolate bars. It's a respectable 2-year-old sized haul, I suppose. The Tootsie Pop quietly disappeared after about an hour. It was too high maintenance.
Our little pumpkin family hopes your evening was as sweet as ours.
