So I have been knitting.
I finished a little black cardigan for N. This is a hard color to find in stores and she has so many outfits with black in them. It's a great pattern. Very easy.
Pattern: Yoked Cardigan by Hannah Fettig. This pattern goes up to adult sizes and I may need to knit one for myself! It was easy and yet very cute.
Yarn: Berroco Vintage in black
It still needs buttons, but I can't find any black thread and I can't find my massive stash of embroidery thread either. I started to put buttons on it last Wednesday, but I decided I needed to use a different type. So for the photos I used a broach to pin it shut.
It's a little big, but that is a good thing. I'm learning to knit big for my growing girl.Pattern: Hyacinth Bucket Hat, modified
Yarn: Ironstone new Wool Multi held double with some KnitPicks Andean silk
This is meant to be a bucket hat. You knit it top down and then add elastic to the underside, then pick up and add a brim that can be flipped up or left down. But my gauge was too big and when I added in the elastic, that became apparent with the gathering that happened. So I did an I-cord bind-off and turned it into a bit of a beret and it is a great hat! The elastic in the brim holds it in place and it is long enough to cover my ears. It also looks really cute on N, but if I make her one, I will make it a bit smaller.I still like the original design and will knit it again at some point with a smaller gauge to see if I can get it right.
I also finished the Inaugural Sweater I've been knitting on for a while. I was determined to wear it to Rhinebeck and finished it a few days before I left. I sewed on the button while I was there. I don't have any good photos of me wearing it, but here is one from Rhinebeck. I wore my windbreaker type jacket over it at the festival because this Texan was COLD!
