N has become much more independent lately. She doesn't mind if I go off into another room and doesn't always follow me. She is also going off by herself some, which is great. I suppose she is feeling more secure. She still cries if we close a door on her, but if she closes the door, she will be quiet and play for a bit and then cry for attention. About a month or ago, she started going and closing herself into a room and then immediately pitching a fit to get attention, so we try to remember to put this bumper thing on her door that keeps her from closing it all the way and we try to keep all the other doors shut, but every now and then the door to our bedroom or the laundry room gets left open and our little drama queen goes and closes the door, but this last week, she closes the door and then hangs out a bit before crying. Progress.
This morning she wandered off to her room while I was on the laptop in the living room and I noticed she was being very quiet, but I left her to her own. After a while I laughed out loud at something on TV and that startled her...she started crying and came running to me. It's like she suddenly remembered I was out here.
So an hour or so later when it was time to go change her diaper, I found this:

She joyfully handed them to me one by one to return them to the diaper hamper. She's taken out a few before, but never the whole thing. She even took out the cardboard support underneath them all.
And this afternoon she did it again.
The diaper hamper is now hanging on the wall.
High on the wall.

Yeah...when they are really quiet for any length of time...something is up.
I found K one afternoon in his room mixing baby powder and baby lotion. I guess he was baking.
Too cute, though.
Fifty-two card, er diaper pick-up! Gotta go looking for them when they are too quiet. Glad to hear she's getting more secure and independent.
Such fun! An experienced parent once told me, "don't try to stay a step ahead of them. It's impossible!" She will be coming up with new tricks soon.
yes, but she helped you collect them all! what a good little helper!
