Jack Spratt could eat no fat....

This, from the local on-line newspaper:

There was a three-alarm fire on the 700 block of Exxxx Drive at 11 p.m. Sunday. The Dxxxxx County Arson Task Force is investigating the cause. Arson is not suspected, said Sharon Lxxxxx, community information officer for the city of Cxxxxx. The Jack Spratt family was evaluated for smoke inhalation, Lxxxxx said.

Seriously?

The Jack Spratt family?

Poor guy.

Our fingerprints are evidentally okay. I finally got a reply back from CIS saying that our file should be up for approval next week. And she made the name change to my file so that I don't end up with an incorrect name on the document we need for our dossier.

My friend beth, who lives in Indianapolis, is adopting from Guatemala. She received her referral a couple of weeks ago and sent me some photos. Her daughter is gorgeous. Born last month, I think. Beth hopes to have her home with her by Mother's Day next year and will be making a visit to see Stefani right after Christmas. I'm so excited for her!

We are off to Los Angeles tomorrow. Yeah, I know. Poor timing. But we have several hundred dollars invested in tickets to the Eagles concert there, so cancelling really isn't an option. There is a glut of tickets, so we can't resell them on Ebay for any good amount of money. While we are there, we will get to see our niece and nephew perform in a regional theater production, so that's a nice coincidence. I just hope the smoke doesn't bother C's lungs too much. He's asthma prone.

In preparation, I have cast on a new sock...it's a lacy pattern in solid blue...very bright blue. This will be third pattern I've tried with this yarn, and I think this one will make me happy. I need to go double check our seats for tomorrow and then make three cold salads for the NIN meeting tomorrow. My turn to help supply lunch.
