So the week before Thanksgiving, we flew out to Los Angeles for our niece's Bat Mitzvah and took a couple of days to drive down to Disneyland. About a week or so before we left, I started showing N a Mickey Mouse DVD so that she could get familiar with some characters other than the Pooh ones that she knows. Mickey was (and still is) a big hit, as are Goofy and Donald Duck.
Daddy handles the spinning rides. The Carousel is as much spin as I can tolerate, and I can only do that doped up on Bonine. She really enjoyed the rocket ship, Dumbo, and the tea cups. One good thing about taking her so young is that she isn't yet into the characters. There wasn't much of a line at all for Pooh and Tigger while we were in their necks of the woods, and she is a fan of them, so we took her to meet them.
We also took her to meet Mickey, who didn't have much of a line either. In the next few years I am sure the character obsession will reach a peak and we'll spend much of our time there waiting for photos and autographs.
Mid-November, mid-week, perfect weather. It was a great time to go and not too crowded at all.
Mid-November, mid-week, perfect weather. It was a great time to go and not too crowded at all.A couple of hours into our second day (we went to the park Wednesday afternoon and all day Thursday), N started asking for her own "Kicky Mouse hat". So of course we got her one and we went with the classic. She still plays with it.
We ended our visit there with front-street seats for the parade. All in all, a really good trip. next time we go, N should be tall enough for the kiddy coaster in Toonville...she was one inch short this time) and we know she is going to LOVE that. As it is, there were tons of rides we could take her on, including her daddy's favorites from his childhood Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and Pirates of the Caribbean.
