For a "stay at home mom" I certainly don't seem to be at home very much. I do generally try to take Mondays at home, recovering from the business of the weekend. However, I volunteer a lot at N's school and my afternoons are usually spent wherever she is, watching her at taekwondo or at the park or at drama club or her little minecraft group. I'm not going to pretend to be the best housekeeper in the world, but I do generally keep it under control. Clutter is my downfall.
N was in a school play last week. It's pretty clear that theater is her "thing" and this was only her second show. She was an awesome Wicked Witch of the West and brought down the house both with her evil laugh and her death scene. The kids loved her and the next morning as I checked in at the office for volunteering, a fifth grade teacher walked by with a "mwahahahaha".
N has some pretty big personality and I think she could have a great future ahead of her playing over-the-top villians. When she first got her part assignment, she was devastated about being evil. She wanted Dorothy quite badly. Paying one's dues is a hard concept for a 6 year old. The Spring production will be Peter Pan. She did a Peter Pan musical last summer with kids from 4-12 and fell in love with the stage. Her first instinct was to ask for Tinkerbell...but in the play, I don't think Tink has any lines...just jingles...and N wants lines. So now she wants Wendy. I think she would be a hilarious Captain Hook (and her small size would surely make for some laughs), but she is determined to be "good" this time around and not evil. She also does not want to be Peter because "he's a boy" even though I explained that Peter is usually played by a girl/woman.
Her grandparents and two of my friends (Auntie Tasha and Auntie Liz) came to see her and I am so glad she has that kind of support from family and friends. Sometimes she feels very alone, not having a sibling. Her cousins live far away and are all a lot older, so she doesn't typically get a lot of family support in her daily life except from us and my parents.
