First Day of School

After having a fever for six days last week, N is doing well and headed off to her first day of Kindergarten today.

She recently got a new Ninjago shirt, so that was her choice for today. It has Lloyd, the gold ninja, on it. And the gold dragon. The Ultimate Spinjitsu Master. She'll tell you all about it if you give her half a chance.

Her backpack is also Ninjago. Amazon led me to believe this would not arrive in time, so we got a different backpack Friday. Teal and purple with a light-up heart on it. But when this showed up Saturday, it was love at first sight. That's Jay, the blue ninja of lightening. He's in spinjitsu (tornado) form, chasing a member of the skeleton army.

Her lunch box is Legends of Chima.

Yep, that's my kid.
She was the first one in her classroom this morning and very excited. Her teacher told her she could draw whatever she wanted, so she promptly sat down and started drawing a dragon.

I had to go back up to the school a little over an hour later to see why I could not put money into her lunch account on-line. So they sent me to the cafeteria to see if she was entered in the system there and I saw all the little kindergarteners lined up, practicing going through the line and giving the lunch lady their full name. I waited a while and after I spoke with said lunch lady, as I left, a teacher was standing in front of them as they sat at the tables. She was holding a tray explaining that it can be a little tippy, so we carry it carefully with BOTH hands.

SO CUTE!

We live around the corner from an elementary school. But N is not attending that one. She is attending one a few miles away that has a dual language immersion program. Her classes will be taught half in English, half in Spanish. So I have to drop her off and pick her up and after I picked her up this afternoon, I asked her if she had a good time and she said "No!" Then she sat back and frowned and gave me a pouty look and told me that the kids were all too loud and yelled a lot and didn't listen and it was awful and she was going on and on about it and I'm wondering what on EARTH she is talking about and how to deal with this and then after a couple of minutes she said. "JUST KIDDIMG!" and started laughing her head off.

Yep. That's my kid.
