Hippo and Giraffe

When I was little, I loved my stuffed animals. I was not, however, creative when it came to naming them. My all-time favorite teddy bear, seen here, was named Teddy Bear. The big teddy bear was named Big Bear. I had a little brown stuffed dog named Doggy. The big blue snake was named Big Blue Snake.

So I am not naming these little guys...I supposed that is best left up to my child anyway. I don't know how long it will take him to figure out what to do with a stuffed animal. Children in orphanages are not used to having them around. But my little one will have a healthy little stash at this rate.

Introducing Hippo. Hippo knit up fast and then I got distracted by my surgery halfway through and Hippo is not meant to be knit on pain meds. These are not very difficult patterns, but you do need to pay attention. I got him out a few weeks ago, though, and finished him off. Then I procrastinated on his little face. The same night I finished Hippo, I immediately cast-on for Giraffe. Both were made from kits I purchased from mybootee.com and I used her Babee Wool. She also provides embroidery floss for the faces and I finished them both up last night.

These are both hard to photograph...and the blurry shots are because I needed to keep the flash off to get a decent shot. The flash washes out the details.

Here's the gang thus far...waiting much more patiently than I am for a little one to play with them.
Seriously, y'all, I'm over the wait. O.V.E.R. it. I feel like I'm spinning my wheels, my sleep schedule is all whacked out, and I'm past ready to get the referral we've been waiting on for so long. There is nothing I can do at this point but wait, and it's driving me crazy.
